GIFTING

You can help support the building of the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame & Western Center through a donor's will, a designation as a memorial or other gifts of property.

PLANNING GIFTS FOR THE MONTANA COWBOY HALL OF FAME

Whatever your membership level goal is for contributions to the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame & Western Heritage Center, Inc., we can help with the implementation of a plan that efficiently satisfies your desires while maximizing the overall benefits to you and us. From the simple outright gift to the complex estate plan, you can benefit from the tax savings achieved with proper gift planning. The examples described below are only a few ways in which we can help you or your family plan a gift that best suits your needs. As you know, certain methods of giving provide tax or estate-planning benefits. Consult your attorney for more information.

The simplest way to support the Hall of Fame is with a gift of cash. Tax-deductible gifts should be made payable to the "Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame & Western Heritage Center, Inc."

Securities - Depending on the circumstances, gifts of appreciated stocks, bonds, or other securities held in excess of one year are often very tax wise. Such gifts are one of the preferred methods for giving by major donors. Many donors can and should take advantage of this tax-saving method.

Gifts of Personal Property - Direct gifts of appreciated property such as furnishings and works of art provide additional tax savings compared with a distribution of the proceeds from the private sale of such assets.

Gifts of Real Property - You can also contribute real estate to the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame & Western Heritage Center, Inc. Examples include personal residences, farms, ranches, commercial property and other real estate. Some gifts of farm and ranch property and personal residences can provide a current (deductible) gift, yet allow the donor to retain the right to live on or farm the property for life or the joint lives of the donor and the spouse.

Matching Gifts - Many employers match the charitable contributions of their employees. Ask your employer if such a program exists. Matching gifts are a great way to leverage a donation.

Gifts That Give Back To The Donor - Increasingly, donors would like to make a large gift but fear the loss of financial support that donated assets provide.  Additionally, a donor may need to diversify a portfolio but is hesitant to do so because of capital gains taxes. Your attorney, financial planner or CPA can help you address each of these needs by assisting with the implementation of a plan that provides you lifetime payments. Such a gift can avoid or defer substantial capital gains taxes as well as provide a current income tax deduction. Examples of such gifts are charitable remainder unitrusts and charitable remainder annuity trusts.
Gifts of Life Insurance - You can effectively use gifts of life insurance policies to further your charitable plans.
Gifts through a Donor's Will - Donors may name the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame & Western Heritage Center, Inc. in their wills. Under the laws of most states, you may elect to leave all or part of your estate to the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame & Western Heritage Center, Inc. These gifts can take many forms. Such gifts benefit both loved ones and the Hall of Fame if made in trust (for example, a testamentary charitable or lead trust).
